The Tomcat Step enables children and adults of short stature to access a wide variety of equipment such as cookers, cutting surfaces, workbenches and machine tools in schools, at home and the workplace.
It comprises a standing surface at stair height and features two rails at waist height for safety. These rails move like gates to allow direct access from left, right, or the rear. The step is fixed and stable in use but can be easily repositioned at the squeeze of a lever, to gain access to low drawers, ovens etc.
The rails fold flat for transport, allowing the step to be tipped onto its edge whereby it takes up no more room than a suitcase. At the same time an innovative castor mechanism emerges from the underside, which enables it to move from room to room, or for storage. When folded it is small enough to be tucked away behind doors, in odd corners, cupboards and kneeholes. |
